Disabled American Veterans Resources

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) offers support and assistance to veterans with disabilities. They also offer a wide range of programs, including transition assistance, job placement services, and volunteering opportunities, aimed at improving the quality of life for disabled veterans and their families.
One of the practical services that the DAV offers is the transportation network. This service provides free rides to disabled veterans who need assistance in getting to and from medical appointments at Veterans Affairs facilities.

Honor Flight

Are you a veteran that served on active duty during the World War II era (12/7/1941 – 12/31/1946), the Korean War era (6/25/1950 – 7/27/1953) or the Vietnam War era (2/28/1961 – 5/7/1975). Have you had the opportunity to visit your War Memorials in Washington D.C. If not then you are invited to share in a day of honor at our nation’s memorials and receive the honor, gratitude, and community of support you deserve.
Transportation and meal costs are fully subsidized, allowing veterans to focus on their visit without financial burden. All Honor Flights include a crew of medical professionals, including doctors. You also will have a "Guardian" while in Washington D.C. who will ensure you are comfortable, safe, and prepared for each stage of the Honor Flight experience.
The group for the Honor Flight (which includes the veterans, their Guardians, volunteers, the medical team, and the flight staff) convenes at the airport very early on the day of the flight to prepare, have breakfast, go through security and get comfortable on the aircraft.
In Washington D.C. you travel by bus to the Memorials as well as Arlington National Cemetary where you have a private attendance at the changing of the Guard.
You need to sign up for an Honor Flight by visiting an Honor Flight organization’s website and filling out their application form.
While wait times are unpredictable, your application is active until you are scheduled for an Honor Flight. If you meet the necessary requirements and are accepted for an upcoming flight, they’ll contact you with further details.
